  • OMG.

Blossom was just killed and eaten by a goshawk.

I couldn't, of course, help thinking of Tiny.

  • I had to Google that. I've never seen 'Meerkat Manor.' I didn't even know what a meerkat was. Today I was out back on the patio sitting on the glider with Tiny beside me and some huge hawks flew right overhead. I was reading that they're attracted to bird feeders which we have a lot of. I'm sorry about Blossom. I can't watch shows about nature. (if there's going to be animals being attacked and eaten)

  • This got me started on meerkats.

  • They are so cute the way they stand on their hind legs.

  • They are the new animal used by Telus (a large Canadian telephone and internet provider) for their ads since last year. Scroll down somewhat on that page until you see one. But more interestingly, there was also an algae island in the book The Life of Pi which was populated by hundreds of thousands of meerkats (suricates in French, I did not know the term meerkat before, I read the French version of the book). I found this excerpt. If you haven't read the book (in French: L'histoire de Pi), Pi was a (fictional) young Indian Tamil born in Pondichéry and who survived a multiple-months journey across the Pacific in a lifeboat alone with a dangerous tiger, after the ship he was on sank. Fantastic reading (and 2002 Booker Prize). Une fois n'est pas coutume, the French translation is top notch (done by the author's parents).

Meerkats sure are cute! I'm not sure if they are bright though.
